What We Do
At Mindful Educational Psychology, we partner with families and schools in the Greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas to better understand each child’s unique strengths and learning needs. We provide comprehensive evaluations, consultation, and advocacy services designed to support academic, behavioral, and emotional success.

Consultation Services
We provide consultation services for parents, private schools, and charter schools seeking guidance around academic concerns, behavioral challenges, intervention planning, and educational decision-making.
Special Education Advocacy
We support families navigating the special education process by helping parents better understand their child’s rights, educational needs, and available school-based supports. Advocacy services may include IEP preparation, document review, meeting support, and recommendations for appropriate accommodations and services.

Whether a student is experiencing challenges with learning, behavior, or emotional well-being, our goal is to provide clear, meaningful insights and practical recommendations that support success at home and in school. We work collaboratively with parents, charter schools, and private schools to help every student move forward with confidence.
Psychoeducational Evaluations
This comprehensive evaluation examines key areas related to learning and school functioning, including intellectual ability, academic levels, cognitive processing, attention and executive functioning, academic skills, as well as social-emotional and behavioral functioning to assess strengths and needs for all educationally related needs.

Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is an evaluation of a student’s educational needs, conducted outside of the school district. Parents may request an IEE if they disagree with the school’s assessment - at the expense of the district. The evaluation covers areas such as academics, cognition, behavior, or related services, and its results must be considered by the school team when making decisions about the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD
This evaluation helps determine whether ADHD may be affecting your child by collecting detailed information through interviews, questionnaires, and hands-on activities. The process takes place during a single appointment, where we look at thinking skills and executive functioning.

Autism Spectrum Disorder
This assessment is designed to help understand whether Autism may be affecting your child’s development or daily life. We gather information by interviewing with you, using parent and teacher forms, and doing one-on-one activities with your child. The evaluation usually takes one to two appointments, where we look at your child’s thinking skills, communication, and sensory strengths and needs.

Dyslexia
We offer both dyslexia screeners and comprehensive dyslexia assessments based on your child’s needs. A dyslexia screener is a brief evaluation of early reading skills to identify risk factors and guide next steps. A comprehensive dyslexia assessment is a more in-depth evaluation of reading, language, and cognitive skills to determine whether a student’s profile is consistent with dyslexia and to provide targeted recommendations for support.

Academic Assessments
A standardized academic assessment is a tool used to understand how your child is performing in key areas like reading, writing, and math compared to other students their age or grade level. These assessments help identify strengths, areas where extra support might be needed, and can guide planning or intervention services.

Intellectual Functioning/IQ
This assessment provides a clear picture of your child’s overall intellectual functioning, processing speed, attention, thinking, reasoning, memory, and problem-solving abilities. This assessment will provide your child's overall intelligence quotient (IQ).

Social-Emotional Evaluations
A social-emotional evaluation looks at how a child understands and manages emotions, interacts with others, handles stress, and behaves in school. Components include looking into emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, behavior, peer relationships, and social skills.

Adult Evaluations
Are you struggling to understand yourself or why certain tasks, relationships, or daily routines feel more challenging than they should? Many adults experience difficulties with attention, organization, social interactions, or emotional regulation, but don’t realize these could be related to conditions like ADHD, Autism, or other neurodiverse traits. A comprehensive evaluation can provide clarity, uncover your unique strengths, and guide strategies to help you thrive in work, relationships, and everyday life.

Christina Gabrielsen

Christina has been supporting individuals with disabilities and special needs for over 25 years, working with everyone from young children to older adults. With a deep commitment to personalized care, Christina helps clients navigate challenges and discover their strengths.
Holding a Master’s degree in Counseling and School Psychology from California State University, Northridge, Christina has been practicing as a school psychologist since 2012. She provides a full range of assessments, including psychoeducational, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia-specific, and social-emotional evaluations, along with consultation and guidance for families, schools, and communities.
Christina emphasizes clear communication and culturally responsive practices, ensuring all clients feel understood and supported.
Driven by a passion for inclusion and empowerment, Christina works to create spaces where every individual can thrive and achieve their potential.
Salam Saleh

Salam is an educator turned licensed educational psychologist who brings real-world teaching insight into her evaluations, allowing her to create practical and effective solutions for students with diverse learning and developmental needs.
Salam holds a Master's degree in Counseling and School Psychology from, Los Angeles and has worked in education for over 15 years. She has a proven track record of creating bold, inclusive, and equitable environments where neurodiverse learners and students with disabilities are not just supported but are empowered.
She has extensive experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders, multilingual learners, and learning disabilities. She approaches her work with a culturally responsive, globally informed perspective shaped by years living both in the U.S. and abroad.
Salam provides psychoeducational, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia-specific, and social-emotional evaluations, as well as consultation services.
Iris King

Iris is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience in mental health, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention. Her background includes working in both public and charter schools, giving her a deep understanding of the unique challenges families face within educational systems.
She is here to support parents of children with special needs who may be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or alone. Parenting a child with additional needs can be both beautiful and incredibly demanding — from navigating school meetings and behavioral challenges to managing the constant emotional weight of advocacy.
Iris provides a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where parents can process stress, build practical coping strategies, strengthen their confidence, and feel truly supported.
